Ignorance is the lack of knowledge or information.

What OP was referring to would be delusion.

They have knowledge and information but choose to believe something else.

I chose not to recognize the biggotted subtext and instead to steelman the statement into something spiritually and factually meaningful.

It’s not bigoted to say religious people have no proof. Belief without proof is the definition of faith.

It’s also not bigoted to say religion has a high kill count. Religion has been a major factor in wars and straight up murders since the beginning…

“Belief without proof” is the literal definition of faith, but it goes hand in hand with ignorance.

“Belief without proof” is what we are all forced to do in life where proof is rarely available, and yet we must still make decisions, and we must manage our doubt and the strain of responsibility. If you think you’re immune, you don’t understand the first thing about your own mind.

I make decisions on my past experiences and then adjust if things change. If people are just doing things without proof, then we just found the problem now, didn’t we?

But proof is always available if you know where to look, and that comes from education. The more educated you are, the less faith you have, and the more confidence you gain from our collective empirical experience. Nobody’s claiming anything else here. I know the mind is flawed.
