I wish we could just stop using a transphobe’s franchise universe in pop culture. I wish we would just stop mentioning, talking about or referencing it altogether. Just pure silence and forgetting.
This is coming from far-right Internet chuds, feuding over fantasy nonsense. I don’t think they’re going to shut up any time soon, so might as well enjoy the comedy of it all.
The only two things we can achieve by doing that is normalising the consumption of products made by bigots (or the continuation of that being normal) and the normalisation of far-right internet chuds and their nonsense.
I think monitoring and mocking these freaks facilities that goal.
Orthodox Catholic Transgender Draco Malfoy is about as big a thumb in the eye of every end of the right wing spectrum. That they’ve done this to themselves is worth trumpeting. Especially when half the GOP has pinned their campaign strategy to “Be afraid of transgender athletes, Catholicly”
“Both nerds and normies making HP references, memes, buying merch etc” is keeping the franchise alive. Bonus points for “woke” nerds. That’s why I’d love to see these references die down. I’d love seeing HP mercy disappear, the TV show, movies, theatre plays flopping, etc. And what we internet nerds can do is (in the context of a meme community) not use that franchise for memes.
Again, not what I’m saying. But I get the impression that you’re either not trying to understand me or actively trying not to understand me. You probably just want not to rethink your habits of consumption and do not want to face what consequences your habits of consumption have. I’m out.

How about trying to break the loop?

I can’t agree to that. At the very least it still normalises the HP franchise and makes JK Rowling happy.
“JD Vance Base voters are really into HP right now” is definitely what’s keeping the franchise alive
That is not what I said.
