    Yes.

Was/is one of the most obvious use case for the tech: Propaganda and surveillance.

Thankfully, I clocked this immediately on release and have never had an account with them or any of the others. Same with facebook and the other big socials. Nope, I’m not handing the ghouls behind these technologies the keys to manipulating me and my mind.

Everyone IRL acts like I’m being hyperbolic whenever I’ve warned them about these things, but here we are again as always and now people will just pretend there is nothing they can do. There is: Stop. It’s the next best thing to not starting.

I think a little empathy is in order. A lot of the people using those things for therapy, emotional contact, personal advice, etc. don’t have a lot of choice if they’re isolated, lonely or don’t know any better. All of the things listed are woefully inaccessible to a shocking amount of people for a lot of very complicated reasons. Yes, even friends. All of those people are victims of monetised parasocial relationships.

They think it’s helpful, because it is explicitly trained to deceive them into believing it is, while telling them how awesome they are.

Fuck the overlords for wanting to keep it this way, however. I’m sure Nazi Cuck could just give everyone therapy access if he wasn’t a nazi cuck instead of building another datacenter to generate poorly drawn fetish porn. But no, let’s all pursue some dystopian bullshit instead of fixing any problems with society.

Sure, I’m not making a judgment against people who are using it to fulfill an unsupported need in their life (although that is very dangerous to do).

But even so, those things are being offered as a facsimile and so I can’t really even accept them as a cost in pragmatic consideration against what ‘AI’ is fundamentally being used for.

What I am saying is, the common person in the world happily rejects the concept of things that threaten their sovreignty of self because they are fascinated by something that seems to make any aspect of their life more convenient; they prefer to rationalize their current course over making any effort. Surrendering to be enslaved rather than be troubled to think.

It’s wild people don’t realize everything you ever type into an AI is saved…

That’s all training data. Get mad at a helpbot and vent? They want to know why.

Be nice and thank it like it’s a person? They want to know why that happened too.

It’s all training data, and they’ll never throw that away. And they’re going to bundle it all up and sell it to each other.

From a trainer and speaker on AI adoption (or advising against thereof): the reality is attention mechanisms have limited windows. They think they are building detailed profiles but the longer that context gets the more gpts will guess and ignore the rest. The insidious part are private companies finding an even more intimate way to farm personal data. The gpts themselves are quite crap.

Glad I’ve never used it, or any other AI, not knowingly. I do my best to avoid AI wherever I see it.

I see AI summaries on product pages, that’s about it. I ignore them.

I think I used an AI chat on a service provider website because I had no choice, once.

I’m confused; was that ever not going to happen? Seeing what we call AI developed from, who it’s being developed by, even how the thing itself works, this seems like a foregone conclusion.

    Still important to say it.
