Despite people feeling disgruntled over tipping culture, 59 percent of consumers in Popmenu’s study said they feel compelled to leave a tip when a digital screen asks for one. But this number is down from 66 percent in September 2025.
There is a Mexican restaurant near me that I frequent. The servers there go out of their way to hit “no tip” for you before they even turn the screen. I appreciate that, and order from them more often than i really should because of it.
there’s one place (no table service. just counter and takeaway) here that will flip the payment terminal around and tap ‘no tip’ for you (“we don’t see any of that”)
Resist!

they probably want returning customers, that are happy. overpaying with tips makes an unhappy customer.
Where I live people go out if their way to make it obvious they’re not checking if you’re tipping
