Just imagine what the threadiverse could be today if .world wasn’t the instance most noobs land on, regardless of how poisoned they may or may not be from years of corporate social media exposure. The loss of good users who end up there and then think better of the whole idea after a taste of “exactly like reddit, but elsewhere” is incalculable.
I have had the entire instance blocked for years now. Every once in a while I think “hmm, should I unblock it?”

Especially over time, it makes it extremely difficult to build up niche communities that Reddit still has a stranglehold on.
Instead, those people just don’t join anything.
