It’s absurd. Retail was shit when I was working it 2006-2014.

It pays nothing, which even if we over look that- I will never understsnd why retail doesnt run like a facory in shifts.

They will have you working first, second and (used to be) third shift all in the same week. This week you have monday and thursday off, next week you have sunday, tuesday, and wednesday off, and now you cant make rent. The schedule is never the same. One week you have 30 hours, the next 12.

You take hella abuse from customers, nough said. (oo and managers too)

You work this crazy schdule, but cant take a sick day without penalty, or fear of having your hours cut, and you still dont recieve medical insurance, and … they keep you right on the line, so you dont qualify for state insurance either. You just get fucked.

You have to work every holiday, no PTO, and no one cares about you.

It was like that in the 80s and 90s too. Difference was, you could buy more with the few dollars they gave you. This is real “what could it cost, $10?” coming from Cuban. It always comes down to expense vs. income, and if “just getting any job” costs you more in the time and expenses than not going to a job… it sounds insane, but that’s where we are.
