“As I near 60 years old, the expiration date has come and gone on any of my youthful indiscretions,” Taylor told the Nashville Scene when asked about the unsolicited nudes allegation. “Whatever story you think you’ve got, my wife is well aware of, and we’ve worked through it a long time ago.”
“My God and my wife have forgiven me, and I would consider everyone else doing the same,” Taylor added.
I find it concerning that he believes he’s received messaging from God on this matter.
Especially since he says that because God has forgiven him, everyone else should “consider doing the same”, he believes an invisible intangible being no one has seen or heard from is the highest authority and everyone else needs to get with the program…
It reminds me of abusive Christian men who over-police their wives and say “Oh my wife is subserviant to me, but I’m not in charge, after all, I’m held accountable by Jesus!”
I got in trouble at church once as a kid because I asked why the person on stage talking to God is okay and everyone around us is cheering it on, but that year I had seen several people involuntarily committed who also claimed to talk to God and why is everyone so sure one is talking to God and the others aren’t.
Apparently they don’t like questions.
They REALLY hate Critical Thinking Skills, which you just threw at them without warning. That’s like a Crucifix to a Vampire.
If Jesus is any example, the difference is whether those conversations with God support the status-quo power structure or seek to upend it.
Support: Staight to the stage.
Oppose: Straight to the loony bin.
