People criticize how sound works in Linux, while in MacOS a userspace program can make a sound device or a network device stuck till reboot.
Funny, it’s been a few years since I’ve had a sound issue on Linux, and it’s both my work platform and my home daily driver (which is a Thinkpad). If it’s not too much of a derail, what sort of complaints are people making?
Psshhhh mixed into normal sound, wrong output devices choice, right devices not appearing in choosers, that kind of thing. Honestly the psshhh part I’ve encountered quite often, if under FreeBSD only one program is playing sound, that sounds as if it were bit-perfect, or at least I can’t tell the difference. Under Linux it’s still remixed somehow (or it was last time I was setting up a new installation) with PA or Pipewire, but with ALSA it did sound properly.
