Was curious, so I looked it up.

They started dating in 2013, when he was 44 and she was 19. So she was less than half his age for 6 years of their relationship, and now they’re 57 and 32.

Their kids were born in 2015, 2018, and 2025.

Gotta say, like honestly. If I was single and 44 years old and some reasonably smart 19 old woman wanted me, it would take significant willpower to say no.

I’m basically the same age and I would have trouble even wanting to become friends with a 25 year old. Can’t imagine dating or marriage or co-parenting with someone with that level of life experience. Make it 19 and it seems like a completely absurd proposition.

But it depends on what you want out of relationships. If you’re not looking for an equal partnership, a connection at an emotional and an intellectual level, then maybe what I’m talking about wouldn’t deter you.

Ewww my youngest is 17 and oldest is 22 and my middle child is 19! That is dating a child. What the fuck man. 46 here when I was 32 I was talking to a gal notice something was off. Found out she was 19, i nope out fast. Point is a 19 year old is not mature. Even though legally an adult by law, in reality they are still teenager’s and should not be dating a 40 year old. And this me having my kids mom being 20 when we had kids. Trust me it was not even ideal then when I was in my mid 20s.

Generally speaking, I completely agree. But in this particular case, she really kind of reined him in, as in gave him a lot of the stability he was looking for and showed him a lot of the support he needed, having grown up in a massively abusive household and such. Also, if you see them together, it’s clear that she’s wearing the pants in the family and he seems quite happy with that. But when it comes to age gap relationships, this is really the exception rather than the rule.

I would imagine it’s a different case when you look at it from the outside versus when you’re experiencing it. Not that I have experienced that. I have had the good fortune to have another leg to stand on, an existing relationship, the couple of times I’ve had trouble like that.

And I want to emphasize that saying no to such a thing is highly likely to be the correct choice. But those two seem happy.

What if you were already rich and famous like him? Now with hindsight OK they’ve got 3 kids, but at the time it would’ve been hard to know that she wasn’t gold digging.
