Any Idea what type of charging port this is, I thought it was ye old Mini B, but its too thick. We’re having a clearout and found our old Camcorder, the model is a Luminox LXDV750 12.0 MEGA MAX, can anyone help me find this port?

Let’s also acknowledge its role in making the iPod possible. While the iPod skyrocketed to popularity once it was supported on Windows and the USB2.0 dock connector was added, Firewire 400 made the original iPod possible in the first place. The then common USB 1.1 was too slow to realistically transfer music, so they chose to build the original iPod with Firewire as it’d already been used in the iMac, which had been positioned as a “digital hub” compatible with (brining it full circle to OPs question) digital camcorders of the day.
No doubt! The Original iPod was the consumer breakthrough for FireWire 400 – unless you count the MiniDisc players, but few people outside Japan cared about those (except me, wee!). I never gave up my NetMD player/recorder-- it was stolen!
But Apple (like Sony and Intel) were heavily invested in FireWire, and the iPod seemed like the perfect kickoff, especially since USB 2.0 wasn’t ready when the 1st-Gen iPod premiered.
You’re like a spokesman for, or historian of, connection protocols; I love it.
You brought up MiniDisc players. I know I could always get something from ebay, but I’m going to Japan in a couple of months and that seems like the perfect excuse to look for a used MiniDisc player, possibly Japan exclusive. Do you have any recommendations of what I should look for?
