why does he dislike it? (the video is almost 2 hours long i aint watching all that).
i disliked it cos i like sherlock holmes, and this wasnt it. and the over-emphasis on moriarty.
there’sa lot of reasons but the two big ones I remember are that they like to do foreshadowing for things that never end up happening, and in the end he always solves the mystery with clues that are never shown to the audience until the end
it also has a lot of that i guess was impressive to audiences of its time but in hindsight is fucking annoying
You’ve basically got it! Your complaints are shared entirely by hbomb. He also draws parallels to other terrible shows that had Moffatt as showrunner (the shittiest Doctor Who episodes and a terrible Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde show that everyone mercifully forgot about)
Moffat has written some truly terrible TV but he was also responsible for many of the best Dr Who episodes, and the Matt Smith era holds up very well imho. Did you ever see Moffat’s Dracula — I think that was the show that best captured his duality as it contained both his best and worst aspects.
I don’t know if you remember Coupling, but that was a very strong bit of TV writing too, even if not my cup of tea. I’ve never seen his Jekyll and Hyde but I believe you if you say it sucked lol

This is largely in the video, though his early Moffat example is the Jekyll and Hyde show

I only have the hbomb video to go off lol
I think he said he enjoyed it, but it was unbelievably camp and low budget
