One man died and another was injured after Jake Danby struck them with his car outside a Darwin shopping centre in 2024, with the driver then sending a series of "disgusting" text messages about the victims.

The court heard Danby sent a series of “disgusting” text messages to his friends in the hours after the crash, in which he labelled the crash victims as “dogs” and “n***ers”.
