Unfortunately, my standard is set pretty high especially for someone like Bernie who I really had on a pedestal. Things sound different when you have family on the ground. That being said I appreciate your post and sharing this information. I think the expectation for Bernie is set higher than others because he was meant to be “our guy”, same with AOC, so any falter feels 10x bigger than from those we already expect it from.

Sanders is built up to be the best of a bad lot; but he is so stereotypically an American senator, it leads to disappointment in those who had hopes. This is a natural reaction.

And while he has said things that are not bad, there is such a huge gap between him and what is needed, that he, the career politician does not have a chance to be esteemed by many on the left. And his words, which would be amazing to hear other politicians say, are judged harsher than the statements put out by them.

What fucking falter, what are you talking about? Calling it “ethnic cleansing” instead of “genocide” was your red line, and undoes all the relentless effort he’s been putting in to try to stop the US government from helping Israel with their horrifying crimes?

I literally just don’t get this. The AOC thing is incredibly stupid, too. I talked more about it here.
