Nope. There will be great barbarism. But technology proliferates…Watch Dogs actually had something there beyond the jank gameplay and lib vibes. I would not be fucking shocked if our world genuinely looks like a shitty spinoff of Watch Dogs and Cyberpunk RED in 30-40 years.
Either it proliferates and the elite are getting knocked out by their own tools or MAD happens and nuclear salvos/EMPs will render all of their power “baseless” if it truly gets to that point. The problem with relying on a electronic surveillance net is that when you get back to the 1800s during a nuclear salvo is that all of your tools; all of them; are gone.
Basically nerds like me should go back to hacking. Dammit and I thought I was ready to walk away from these shit. I wanted to be more present in IRL like mutual aid and community defense after 15 years of exploit dev shit. Both is always good. Mutual aid and community defense are great for knowing who’s around you and making plans with people you can trust. You can totally do both! But yeah, definitely never walk away from that.
