Pussy word is used for men who lacks daring in reasonable situations. I don’t see how it is rude & misogynistic? Probably they are sexist if they think woman can not be unemotional, stoic, strong and courageous.
Take this as a learning experience to become familiar with non sexist insults. Coward and gutless would be perfectly suited alternatives. It’s the same principle as using “gay” as a pejorative towards a straight man. It’s only insulting if you think being gay is something bad, so that is the implication. Just because these words are commonly used as insults in society doesn’t mean they are not a form of commonplace bigotry.
