It’s important to be factual. Hamas did not kill “more than 1,100 Israelis.” Israel killed some of those Israelis by enacting the Hannibal Directive, which says that Israel would rather kill its own people than have to negotiate for their release (by releasing some of the thousands more Palestinian hostages in Israeli captivity). We don’t know how exactly how many Israelis were killed by Israel because Israel won’t allow an investigation.

Also, hundreds of the Israelis killed on Oct. 7th were soldiers enforcing the siege and imprisonment of the Gaza concentration camp.

Zohran’s laudable opposition to Israeli genocide is not served by adopting, or failing to challenge, some of the propaganda used to wage it.

My statement on the two year anniversary of October 7, 2023.

[Two years ago today, Hamas carried out a horrific war crime, killing more than 1,100 Israelis and kidnapping 250 more. I mourn these lives and pray for the safe return of every hostage still held and for every family whose lives were torn apart by these atrocities.

In the aftermath of that day, Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli government launched a genocidal war: a death toll that now far exceeds 67,000; with the Israeli military bombing homes, hospitals, and schools into rubble. Every day in Gaza has become a place where grief itself has run out of language. I mourn these lives and pray for the families that have been shattered. Our government has been complicit through it all.

This must end. The occupation and apartheid must end. Peace must be pursued through diplomacy, not war crimes, and our government must act to end these atrocities and hold those responsible to account.

These last two years have demonstrated the very worst of humanity. We must answer it by modeling the very best: a relentless pursuit of our higher ideals and an unwavering commitment to universal human rights.

    I disagree.

It seems you are the one that is the propagandist.

Smearing those that do not bend to your views.

Did a cursory search about him, seems like he might have some merit but also some iffy things potentially.

Specifically this tidbit on his Wikipedia page is interesting:

The Canadian University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy published a list of “Russian-influenced” social media accounts, which included Maté.[59][60][61] According to the Brookings Institution, in 2023, Maté’s twitter posts were the 15th most re-tweeted posts by Russian state-backed accounts.[62]

Also literally on a podcast called ‘useful idiots’ lol, though I assume that’s a satirical name.

Overall though, from his reporting and journalistic outlet historu seem like he could be a decent source but what he says should probably be taken with a good pinch of salt.
