Don’t you just hate it when your mortality gets shoved into your face? I just noticed that my hairline has started to recede and my hair is starting to thin out on top. Its not a vanity thing, its just the reminder that my meat suit is starting to degrade and I can’t get a new one.
One of the biggest reasons I work out tbh. Both my grandpa’s died mid seventies so K always saw that as old. They were old for me when I was a child as well but they were actually like end of fifties / early sixties then. But they were like old grandpa’s already, just sitting inside, having health issues and whatnot. Years of smoking, drinking and bad diet caught up to them.
Then I met my father in law some years ago who has since embarked on a four month bike journey to Northern Norway and is also currently renovating a cabin in Sweden all by himself. All at the age of 66.
My point is: even though we are mortal, we have the option to get the best out of it as possible. It might not stop a receding hairline or decreasing eyesight all together but it might be the reason you can still cycle thousands of kilometers when you are far above 60.
alternative lesson: Don’t look in the mirror for more than a moment and you won’t see death coming up behind you.
