We had a controversy maybe 6 years back where Canadian Citizens of Taiwanese lineage were attacked by Chineese international students at the university they all attended for protesting the annexation of Hong Kong. At the time this was huge but im pretty sure it was swept under the rug as international students are a massive market here.
