    New Zealand got rid of the ¢1 and ¢5 coin by 2010, so they round to the nearest tenth (e.g. “$4.95” will cost $5.00 if you’re paying cash)

    youd THINK stores in NZ could just make all their prices end in ¢0 so there’s always exact change (countries outside the US/Canada include sales tax in listed prices so it’s always the exact amount)… but companies don’t wanna lose psychological pricing strategies like $19.99, $9.95, etc 🙃
