Sorry, you’re going to be continuously confronted with the fact that just because things happened before you were born doesn’t mean they aren’t here in the present constraining our options. It’s not enough to say that we can vote for whoever we want after two political purges because they were before your time. It’s not enough to say that we can say whatever we want after they killed the black radical leaders because it was before your time. It’s just not good enough. Do better.
