to consider that starship troopers was literally a product of a fascist society and continues to be consumed by fascists in a fascist society. Stop coping. There is no subtext unless the audience decides there is. The bugs are “bad guys” and the cool “evil” space nazis are the “good guys” (us!) and there’s no Secret Third Factor That Makes This Good. Ask any guy heading off to die overseas right now if they like starship troopers. You won’t because you’re scared to admit that you just like how watching it makes you feel.

Someone should make a movie where the fascists are gross slimy bugs, and they are going to war with humans on a distant planet. The bugs have a bullshit reason for going to war and everyone knows it. They just love destroying stuff and killing humans. You barely see the humans in this movie unless it’s a battle scene and you never see their faces close up, to prevent the audience from sympathising with them. Also the humans are brown and speak a made up language, and the bugs are a sickly pale pink and speak english

watch as the fascists watching the movie take the side of the bugs
