So just like we’re funding multiple factions in the Syria civil war, and I would definitely consider a war in Syria, you could easily make the case that the US is in war in Mexico the same way. The other 20% of the cartels weapons came from Israel, but that’s a story for another day. “We bombed them, and killed some of their political leaders, we did not go to war with them” is a hell of a statement though, and would never pass the “shoe-on-other-foot” test.
