    It’s not sweeping it under the rug. It is always called out by the people who are actually there on the day. It is absolutely necessary to do that and to support the victims of abuse, but reporting on it and broadcasting it all over the internet in an attempt to shame them into silence is not and doesn’t work. One person booed at an event and was instantly shut down, who the fuck cares? This person is not important or influential unless you platform them and turn them into the big scary Nazi caricature. Now they have a public image, now they have a story they can work with. You won’t see it because your social media feed is not the same as the one being broadcast to the people they are influencing online (often young men and boys). Don’t mistake that for thinking you somehow won the engagement. They got exactly what they wanted here and they will continue to turn up every year and do it again because it works.
