Talking about racism against white people is rather strange because “white” is a concept specifically invented to oppress people outside of that group, to justify subjugating the “non-whites” in slavery or colonization or imperialism.

If we were to try and define “white culture,” we could only define it in terms of racial subjugation. You might say, well, what about European culture and traditions? Yes, there exists European food, European cultural traditions, etc, but that is not the same as “white culture.” A French person and a US American have different cultural traditions, different holidays, different language.

To talk about “white culture” means to talk about what unifies them together such that they should be considered part of a common bloc, and the only defining characteristic of “whiteness” that unifies it together is racial subjugation.

Indeed, the same is also true of “black culture.” Black culture is almost entirely understood as culture devised as a response to racial subjugation. When people think of black culture, they often think of things like traditions and songs devised in opposition to slavery, or black churches which were their own community centers developed independently of white churches due to racial segregation.

You can argue that bigotry against Europeans exist, but bigotry against “whiteness” makes very little sense, because “whiteness” only exists as a category to justify subjugation, and it is the only thing that ties together “white people.”

It is harmful to promote “whiteness” even as a “white person.” If you are French and you love your culture, that means you love French culture. If you are from Spain and you love your culture, that means you like Spanish culture. Have you ever met a person who said they love “white culture” that wasn’t just a racist PoS? Universally, everyone who promotes the idea that people should be “proud of being white” and talks about the greatness of “white culture” are always just extreme racists.

In my opinion, even “white people” would do themselves better to stop promoting identifying with “white” as an identity group.

I’ve traveled to other countries and live in a majority black town and never once in my life had anyone be rude to me for being white. If you are white and get called a cracker more then once in a blue moon then you have an identity that is built up and wrapped around bigoted reactionary ideas and politics. It’s similar to misogynists complaining that women hate them, others can sense that aura and attitude coming from you a mile away and it ends up becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.

there is a big debate of east asian people being ”white” in some contexts. many east asian countries are prosperous. because these populations are prosperous, or very capitalistic, some people go as far to consider them honorary white.

White supremacy amongst Imperial America’s institutions is a well documented phenomenon and you’ll have a hard time finding any social scientists denying its existence. You can’t just play Mad Libs by replacing ‘white’ with a minority and expect it to work perfectly. Example:

If you tried to make fun of this by writing ‘Blacks received on average 36 percent more callbacks to interview than Whites with equal job qualifications’, most people would rightfully look at you like you had just lost your godddamned mind. The old switcheroo simply does not work here, since it requires you to forget that reality exists.

This is why I get annoyed when somebody reacts to an insult to White men with ‘omg what if u said that about joos’ or ‘omg what if u said that about blacks’. An insult to White men isn’t like an insult to Jews or Black folk. It’s more like someone insulting ‘Aryans’ in the 1930s or 1940s. If you don’t believe me, look at how the Fascists reacted to Theodore N. Kaufman.

Now, if someone insulting Whites or men bums you out for a bit then I can understand that, but the correct approach is not to scold anybody or show them the ol’ switcheroo. That isn’t going to fix the situation. It’ll probably only make things worse, if anything.

I remember in my liberal days, this concept threw me off because I thought that racism was this mostly organic thing that arises from “tribalism”. Which is not a narrative I came up with. I’m sure it is a narrative white supremacists came up with and passed along to justify the system of white supremacy.

Could white supremacy even exist without the development of colonialism? It seems like the one followed from the other as a kind of formalization of settler hierarchy and dividing the world into “civil” and “savage.” There’s so much mass murder steeped in it. To fear the loss of whiteness is to fear the loss of supremacy and the privilege that comes with it, not a loss of personhood. In fact, losing white supremacy would return a humanness to white people that they’ve lost in the process of positioning themselves as the “civil” monsters ruling over the rest.

If one is considered white and receives anger or rejection for it, it’s a good moment to pause and remember why. Because white for many in the world is associated with genocidal violence against them and their people, and this is not some past wound, it continues in the now. The only way to end the reason for that anger is to end white supremacy.

People either unintentionally or disingenuously conflate individuals being bigots with systemic, institutional subjugation and oppression. Is it possible to be bigoted against a person for the colour of their skin or “race”? Absolutely, and that goes for “white” people as well, even if the identity is entirely a social construct. Someone being “white” doesn’t make their skin colour fair game, and that line of reasoning is how shit like colourism infects communities.

Going a bit further, is it possible for White people to face systemic oppression at the hands of a White-supremacist system? Actually yes, seeing as many of the same mechanisms of state violence created to oppress and disenfranchise minority communities are readily turned against working class or impoverished Whites. However, is it possible for those same Whites to face systemic RACISM, at the hands of the same White supremacist system and society that might be oppressing them? That answer is a resounding no.

When liberals claim “cracker” is a racist slur, they prove themselves to be crackers because only a cracker would take offense.

The people who get twisted over people using the word cracker are a little funny, but this is pretty circular reasoning. In your view, there is no way a person could take issue with something unless they are that thing. If someone is being disgusting, how is calling them a reactionary, lib, or fascist not better then using an ambiguous insult?
