Steam controller needs all games to run through Steam. Standalone games don’t work or games in epic or GOG (you must add them as non-Steam games). It doesn’t have a Windows driver and linux driver is hypothesised because of their 2015 controller had one.

The xbox controller works in an xbox and a a PC. You dont need to run games through microsoft store to work.
