Nintendo has announced that Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream has sold more than 3.8 million copies in the two weeks since the game was released for Nintendo
I mean duh, a game sells better when it‘s released on more platforms but I was shocked when I read the Switch 2 sold nearly 20 million units already. It has a better run than the Switch 1 in it‘s first year. People are buying it like sliced bread and the price increase makes total sense.
Funny thing though the average Switch 2 owner only bought 2 1/2 games for the console and many retailers are putting heavy discounts on them. The Switch 2 is a triumph for Nintendo but a net loss of retailers if we go by the current numbers.
All that being said it horrifies me what Nintendo will learn from all this. Their fans who spend so much money so carelessly on hardware are ruining the company for me. It will rain rereleases, remasters and remakes on the platform and I couldn‘t care less about any of those. Nintendo is at their best when they innovate but they don‘t have any reason to atm.
People were happy to pay scalpers double the retail price for a Switch 1 so of course Nintendo wouldn’t leave money on the table to the scalpers this time around. And the fomo fans proved them right.
