Literally the act was made to prevent southern states from gerrymandering minority voters into fewer votes. And that is exactly what happened after it got repealed.
Gerrymandering is a feature of the moldy election system from the 1800s. The US would benefit greatly from moving to proportional representation instead of 1 seat blocks. And getting rid of racists.
I totally agree. At least stop partisan gerrymandering if not remove districts completely. We have had computers for half a century. Cars and mail trucks even longer.
