While tons of places in the world had really progressive views when it came to women and sexuality, Europe has never been one of them and referencing most of the ideas in the kama sutra during this period would have had you put to death for heresy.
Ther stereotype that natives and Mexicans are dirty and smelly comes from the fact that they bathed regularly as a culture and European invaders saw that as disgusting. If you’re bathing daily you’re going to have a smell by mid day, where the Europeans were nose blind to their own smell and have be replying perfumes to their filth crust for months.
Also, Ben Franklin used to champion “air baths” which was the act of standing nude infront of an open window and letting the breeze clean you of your foul smells.
