Just found this LLM that claims to be more ethical due to “Funds humanitarian causes” and using “16X” less energy, among other claims and says it was built by 2 Syrian engineers. These all seem pretty cool but has anyone heard of this before and know if any of this is true? cause it seems a bit too good to be true

    Pro: They seem at least sympathetic to Palestine.

    Con: This mostly just materializes as them using the blight of the Palestinian people to advertise their product. At least from what I can tell from the website. The only reference to material support for Palestinians I can find is that when you donate (not when you pay for a subscription) to the company they direct a small part of it to “Supporting Palestinian liberation and other resistance movements worldwide”.

    using “16X” less energy

    I don’t really know what they mean by this. They use a lighter version of an almost one year old model. It’s probably using 16x less energy than something I guess?

    among other claims and says it was built by 2 Syrian engineers

    I don’t really see a reason to doubt that.
