i guess someone’s going to have to explain to me how wearing a headscarf, not a hijab, just a headscarf, to an islamic holiday celebration in the city she represents is performative and not just basic respect for their beliefs about modesty.

politician arrives at religious holiday after running interference for genocide of people of that religion, and performs their customs to whitewash her reputation. if you tell me she represents the interests of muslim new yorkers, that doesn’t improve my opinion of her, it lowers my opinion of the muslim new yorkers.

is that yearly occurrence for her? https://nitter.net/AOC/status/2036218589200503197 evidently it’s not even 2 months old occurrence, of course it’s performative.

or she was invited? to a large event in the community she’s been elected to represent? and dressed respectfully because not to do so or to tell them what is respectful is western chauvinism? clearly most of the people at the event are in various religious garb, muslim new yorkers aren’t rocking those fits daily.

are you telling me you don’t understand that this tweet and the image you posted are from different holidays? the tweet is from Eid at the end of Ramadan, the image is from Eid al Adha celebrations the other day.
