Mispronuncing words, even misspelling them, especially if they’re new to you, is always entirely understandable.

But my point isn’t about people misspelling restaurant. My point is about the meme that restaurant is hard to spell. I would never judge a person in real life who struggled to spell it, that’s fine. But that doesn’t make it a hard to spell word, and there are a million actually hard to spell common words we don’t talk about like this.
