upper management sets targets and uses funding allocation to pressure middle & lower management
middle & lower management pressure workers to hit/exceed targets, often by making them compete with each other
Amazon in particular uses “subcontractor” drivers who are paid less, have few/no benefits or protections, and who compete with each other on speed and other metrics. it’s yet another reason to stop caring about the world around you.
I don’t know if you know this, but corporations are staffed by people who are in control of their own actions.
actually the board, C suite, and upper management are the ones who control what the employees do. maybe you’ve experienced this at your own job.
