Police said a 53-year-old British man believed to have been behind the wheel was taken into custody. The crash isn’t being investigated as terrorism-related.
A car collided with a number of pedestrians in the center of Liverpool in northwest England, injuring at least 27, officials said Monday, as thousands lined the streets to celebrate Liverpool Football Club’s English Premier League title win.
At least 27 people, including four children, were hospitalized for their injuries, North West Ambulance Service Head of Service David Kitchin said. Of those people, one adult and one child have serious injuries, Kitchin said.
Twenty more people were treated at the scene for minor injuries, Kitchin said. Additional patients have shown up at local hospitals, as well.
Fascinating how the subtext is always that we should feel comforted because a mass-casualty event that’s a normal part of the system that kills and injuries people every day isn’t terrorism.
“Oh, that’s just the machine crushing orphans. It’s supposed to be doing that.”
It’s not just that, the last time the police withheld information about something like this speculation about the missing information caused some of the worse riots the uk has ever seen, they are probably trying to avoid another situation like that.
