Another win for the Xbox strategy playbook:

    1. Buy a lot of studios
    2. Close them
    3. Profit Loss

Microsoft provides the Israeli military with Azure cloud and AI services that are crucial in empowering and accelerating Israel’s genocidal war on 2.3 million Palestinians in the illegally occupied Gaza Strip.

If you needed another reason to avoid Xbox, they’re one of the biggest supporters of the US regime.

Support for the BDS movement has kept my Xbox powered off, gamepass expired and prevented me from playing Doom Dark Ages, Avowed and a few other games the last couple years.

Our wallet is the only voting tool we have left. Use it. Fuck these corpos.

Gee, I have no idea why the Xbox brand is doing so poorly and may even be spun off itself. They absorb then shut down thriving studio after studio, leaving nothing behind but fired workers and abandoned projects. It’s like a compulsion for them, does the Xbox division even talk to anyone else at Microsoft!?

Maybe you can’t see it, but buying more nonexistent RAM for nonexistent data centers to satisfy nonexistent customers by solving nonexistent problems with nonexistent LLMs is a much better way to spend your money. It’s what everyone does so it must be smart! /s

Sure, just close up any studio that actually was able to release worthwhile games under the MS umbrella in the last few years. That will help the Xbox brand. lmao.

As much as i hate MS they still had some brownie points left in my book because they financed Psychonauts 2, that Lighthouse game, the two Sensuas, etc. But without that what can they even deliver? Yet another shitty Halo which cant improve on anything compared to 15 year old prior titles? Forza Sloprizen? Bethesda remastering/remaking/re-releasing a past TES game? The most mediocre output obsidian ever had over a long stretch of time? The output of the Activisions COD mines which somehow got even worse under MS? yaaaaawn

The goal of nearly any company in 2026 is to become a passive immovable gate-keeper between a subscription service and a captive customer base.

So I assume they think that Game Pass (the service) is the product rather than the games it supplies, and they can more efficiently extract rent if someone else provides the content.

That’s just the sort of thinking an MBA would settle on, even if any gamer knows it’s idiotic. But nobody has accused these people of being smart.

Imagine, a stupid corporation with few brain cells closing studios they didn’t want to pay to maintain in order to pave the way for a comeback. History keeps repeating itself with these nasty corporations closing down studios and leaving people jobless, yet they still let themselves be acquired. The classic Microslop playbook of embrace and extinguish is unchanged; it probably doesn’t help Microslop set billions of dollars on fire investing in LLMs and didn’t see a ROI because that tech is trash. 😵‍💫
