I figure everyone knows Yuri Gagarin, but just in case: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuri_Gagarin

After his mission as the the first person in space, he toured around the Soviet countries and was (understandably) quite the celebrity.

As always, stay tuned here on !comicstrips@lemmy.world for a slow trickle out of Jucika comics, but if you want to find more, here’s a good post with a large collection that /u/JohnnyEnzyme@piefed.social posted last year: https://piefed.social/post/1258520

**Also, check out some Jucika fan art! https://piefed.social/c/eurographicnovels/p/2128207/the-best-of-jucika-fan-art-12-pieces-with-two-videos

He also visited manchester, and I assume, other non soviet aligned countries too.

    EDIT https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuri_Gagarin#After_the_Vostok_1_flight

Gagarin visited the United Kingdom three months after the Vostok 1 mission, going to London and Manchester.[60][64] While in Manchester, despite heavy rain, he refused an umbrella, insisted that the roof of the convertible car he was riding in remain open, and stood so the cheering crowds could see him.[60][65] Gagarin toured widely abroad, accepting the invitation of about 30 countries in the years following his flight.[66] In just the first four months, he also went to Poland, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Hungary, and Iceland.[67]

Shout out to Star City, on either Apple TV or the high seas. It’s alt-history set after Gagarin, but his presence looms large, and we might get a flashback eventually. It also shows a similar Soviet tour for the fictional first woman on the moon.
