Why does MY bill go up when a small number of the electric company’s customers use a huge amount of electricity?

Why aren’t they just charging the people who use more than everyone else?

This might actually break title 2 regulations

It’s supposed to be the same flat rate for everyone and you pay for what you use

Charging that user for the amount they consume doesn’t pay for the infrastructure upgrades and installations that are now required. This is normally distributed across users as the use is distributed across users. But with data centres it is easy to point towards a single user now and charge them for all of this…and that’s what they should do.
