The UK government continues to falsely characterize this policy as a necessary response to growing concerns about online harms for young people. In reality, much like the Online Safety Act, it will cause more harm than it will prevent.

      De-anonymisation for everyone is the point of it. The social media ban is the marketing spin and the harm is a bonus.

        Nah, “protecting the children” from “trans ideology” and anti-Zionism is the point, de-anonymization is a bonus. The driving motivators here are transphobia (“No one will be trans if they can’t learn that trans people exist!”) and Zionism (“The kids are only anti-Israel because of what they see online!”)
