my hate hit a bit different… i had sticks of garlic gum i would swap out w/ my big red.
i was a terrible child
People have tried it on me in primary school, but I’ve felt nothing. I thought the joke was they were holding the gum really hard.
I am become Pricks, destroyer of trust.
My brother got me one of these for my last birthday and we’ve had a stupid amount of fun with it!
What are these?
they’re basically tiny mouse traps so when you grab the gum it snaps on your fingers and causes a little sting.
Those are a thing too, but the shock gum actually spins a little motor to vibrate the stick of “gum” to make it feel like you’re being shocked.
Apparently y’all got lucky. The ones used on me had a plastic roach attached to the end of it. Made it look and feel like one of the bastards had jumped on my finger.
Oh, it’s not a real (albeit miniscule) shock? Disappointing.
There are ones that give you a damn good shock. A market vendor in Thailand used one on me. I’m surprised the dude only got his shit rocked once during my stay, doing that prank on drunk dudes
I have a shocking pen! It actually gives an electric shock. Makes your hand feel like it’s numb and vibrating. I got it like 25 years ago when I was still in school, and nobody would fall for it.
When my partner and I started dating, I was cleaning old boxes of my stuff from forever ago and found it. I was like “here, click this pen” FULLY expecting them to be incredulous and not do it. NOPE, they snatched it from my hands and clicked it IMMEDIATELY, then letting out a loud yelp and looking at me with scorn, then playful anger. “I didn’t think you’d actually DO IT!” I said…
Mine is letting people borrow my pen and not getting it back. =\
I want my Wrigleys back :(
Gum is made from plastic. Do not chew gum.
Would be nice if the article told you what to watch for to know which gums to avoid.
Although they hypothesised that petroleum/synthetic gum would have more, the article says the conclusion: the amount of mucroplastics were actually the same for both organic and synthetic gums. (Though It doesn’t state clearly if it’s low trace amounts from the environment, or just a big ol’ stick of plastic and nothing else).
So if it bothers you, you should avoid all gums. But also, literally ALL our food has plastics in it now. All of it. Even fresh vegetables.
Yeah, reading other articles about the study, it sounds like this is more a product of manufacturing and packaging than an actual ingredient
Hum… The article says it: avoid every one.
Or not, because there is still not enough evidence to conclude it’s a problem. It’s just “very likely”, not "known’.
Dammit
That, and firecrackers
