We learned shitty Jeep transmissions should not be used to park a vehicle. People who refuse to use parking brakes deserve what they get.

Seems a bit harsh… Especially as if I put my car into park then the electronic handbrake turns on anyway. I never have to pull it manually

If you have automatic brakes… then you are infact using them…also the fact they exist proves the point the vast majority do not use the brakes.

That might be more of a culture things, i grew up with manuals and pulling the handbrake and putting it into first or reverse is still second nature to me and I’d think most people here. If anything the introduction of the auto handbrake is causing people to lose the habit.

But with my car I don’t really see how anyone could make a mistake. If you open the door in anything other than park, it screams at you. If you are in park and open it then it loudly applies them.

So 99% of people who drive automatics?

Pretty much nobody knows why they should even use it.
