I’ve used Ben’s 100% deet before for field exercises. It melted the plastic casing of headlamp, but it works great. 30% does the same job to repel bugs you just have to re apply more often. We had no tents, it was 90F all night, and we were patrolling a lot day and night so having long lasting tick protection was great. If youre just doing yard work for a few hours, 30% deet is great.
You can get lots of mixes, 40% is the stronger stuff.
I can actually find 100% deet as well but I don’t think it works any better than the 40%. It just lasts a little longer and tends to irritate the skin and since you have to hunt for it nobody really buys it.
DEET here is typically 40%
40%? Where do you get that? Deep forest DEET based repellent here is 30% at best.
[Edit] Judging by the server you’re on I guess Australia?

Last time I went outside without bushman’s DEET I got a land leech
Makes sense. Here in Canada we don’t need to repel the actual devil like you guys do. Just tons of mosquitoes, so fair game I guess.
the deerflies up here in muskoka think deet is hot sauce
We can get the 40% in the midwest U.S. as well.

100% maybe good for tagging your shoes and edges of your clothing, hat brim?
