  • That is absolutely rich given the things you have said in this thread.

I do my best to politely correct people for cultural appropriation if I know the culture well enough to know its harmful or if I have explicitly learned from that group of people that it is harmful, because it is important not to center yourself in other people’s struggle.

You know, like saying that an evil spirit from a given culture’s folklore is not evil because its convenient to your position and that claiming as much is just like racism even though its not even a little bit like racism.

  • Being a furry isnt about fucking animals, but you’re saying its about beasitiality

Being gay or trans isn’t about fucking kids, but homophobes say it is.

You are leaping from the thing that makes you uncomfortable to a moral argument that isnt actually supported by the thing you’re critiszing.

The arguments have exactly the same flaw. And the fact you can make any critisism into antisemitism doesnt mean that you just shouldn’t engage with it when someone’s critisism is directly mirroring all the tropes of bigotry

Which to be clear, being a furry isnt a protected class or anything, its a subculture. But your “deviancy” argument is literally just exactly word for word what people say about queer folks complete with the exact same foundational flaw

I make the comparison because as a queer person it directly fits. Your argument and the argument homophobes make are cut from the same rhetorical cloth and have the exact same faulty logic.

Claiming it’s hollow without engaging with the argument I’m making is a lazy way to deflect from the need to reflect or rebut anything I’m saying

That’s fine regarding paragraph 2, but its gross to tell an indigenous culture the evil spirit from their folklore actually isnt evil and that saying so is racist. Doing so as if thats actually a progressive take is particularly gross. Comparing said evil spirit to black people is also gross, that is an obviously faulty comparison.

You are not the author of their culture. They are. You can imagine this is a non canonical exploration of the idea of a wendigo just like the people who imagine fucking one, but it’s an evil creature. It is their folklore that they have a ravenous hunger for human beings, and are explicitly evil.

Claiming to have the authority to negate a culture’s own voice on aspects of their culture is a deeply disrespectful thing to do, please don’t.

Coming up with imaginary scenarios where it’s suddenly moral to have sex with kids or sheep is super weird and creepy.

Coming up with imaginary scenarios where being a furry is about wanting to fuck sheep is also weird, and yet here we are. My closest friend is a furry and has zero interest in sexualizing her sonas or other people’s, she just likes drawing herself as dog characters. For her it’s a way of processing different parts of herself by personifying them as separate characters, and she enjoys anthropomorphic animals as an aesthetic 🤷🏻

The rhetoric you’re using is exactly the same harmful stuff folks say about queer folks, complete with the same leap in logic from whats happening (drawing anthro characters in various contexts including sexual ones, having queer relationships including queer sex) to something intrinsically harmful (animal abuse, pedophilia).

Your own post is just you venting that you hate people that seem weird to you. How would anyone learn anything from that when you clearly didn’t? You clearly didn’t make the post to try and learn anything.

Wendigo (/ˈwɛndɪɡoʊ/) is a mythological creature or evil spirit originating from Algonquian folklore. The concept of the wendigo has been widely used in literature and other works of art, such as social commentary and horror fiction.

Wendigo are evil. It’s not racism to assume the creature is evil if it’s canonically evil according to the indigenous culture that created it 😅 There can be media that reworks the idea, but it’s literally an evil spirit with ravenous hunger that eats humans

  • Especially goldfish, which are in the carp family and honestly theres a good case to be made theyre really pond fish more than fish-tank fish.

The only reason they stay so small in captivity is because they produce a hormone that stunts growth- this is supposed to give them a competive advantage over other goldfish, and help the collective population survive if they’re in a small body of water where resources are limited. This can and does happen in nature, but a bowl or even moderately sized tank takes that to a pretty significant extreme compared to what “limited space and resources” might look like in a sectioned off area of even a small pond

If we’re taking care of animals and accepting responsibility for their wellbeing I think its fair to say we really ought to provide them with reasonable conditions and not just saddle them with less than that because they are hardy enough to survive those suboptimal conditions

Just realized I’m posting from my alt lol, I may not see replies for a bit
