Even if subsidised they would still be terrible as a work machine lol. The hardware is not good. Work machines are almost always i7s at a minimum.
Remember that these machines are neutered to keep under a tiny power draw.
Oh hi there person who I’ve upset by expressing my opinion who is now wanting to go back through my post history to find something to use against me! If you’re reading this, it’s because you’ve already lost the argument :)

The hardware is terribly overpriced for a work pc. There are many far superior work desktops for far cheaper.

Not a good one, that’s for sure. Should’ve just eaten the losses and cancelled it, or sold it at a big loss since they make money off every game it plays.
Hardware wise, the Series X beats this with ease. It’s not even close.
The streaming codec matters because it (265) is incredibly better and more efficient, which is what you want for streaming.

Why do people still try to lie and say the car did it? They don’t know that literally everything the car does is recorded?
Tesla Vice President of Autopilot Ashok Elluswamy also chimed in on the incident with a response to Musk on X.
“In this case, the driver manually overrode self-driving by pressing the accelerator all the way to 100% of the accel pedal in this residential area,” he wrote. “They reached a speed of 73 mph during the crash, and had the accelerator pressed even after the crash.”

Next you’ll be telling me that Stake pays influencers and celebrities to gamble fake money and advertise for them without disclosing it……

Plenty of those comparisons around. The steam machine loses in basically every one. It’s not using exotic console-like parts, it’s just a low spec PC. The only custom stuff is the motherboard and cooling, neither of which help performance. The parts perform exactly as expected - poorly.

You can build a better, and upgradable, gaming PC for less than the steam machine costs. Easily.

While Microsoft claims DeepSeek would be strictly optional, ring-fenced inside Azure’s enterprise security boundaries, and fine-tuned to remove political bias, the pivot has triggered immediate alarm bells in Canberra.
Sounds like the article writer doesn’t understand the difference between LLMs and a product. You can download and use a deepseek model locally, and nothing goes back to China. This is what MS are doing. They’re not integrating with the deepseek AI like they do with Claude and ChatGPT for example.

It’s got nothing to do with thinness like the article carry’s on and on about, but everything to do with the fact it’s a plastic screen and using a stylus on it is only going to end in damaged screens.

Aaaaaaaaand it was back in profit almost immediately.

As long as you use AMD, as Intel and Nvidia are not supported yet.
Intel NUCs have existed for like a decade at this point.

Not really what they’re saying.
“Over the past two decades, DOJ’s Civil Rights Division (“CRT”) has relied on its integration mandate and Olmstead to pressure states into discharging individuals from mental-health institutions,” the opinion says.
They’re saying that people are being released before they should be due to threats of lawsuits, essentially. That would explain why there are clearly many, many people with severe mental health issues out in the streets when they should be in a facility getting the treatment they need.

A better gaming pc that is also upgradable.
Like I’ve said before, this thing needed to be no more than $500 to be taken seriously. Performance is almost at joke levels for current games - 720p with lowest settings and no ray tracing will maybe get you 30fps in recent games. Next gen games will pretty much be impossible to play.
They also really should have made sure that people were aware that it was a lowest of the low spec gaming pc. People had some insane expectations despite us knowing the specs, thinking that some “Linux/Valve secret sauce” would make it punch above its weight.
You’d be much better off just using moonlight from your pc to any other device, but seems like you want to buy it no matter the pointlessness haha. I’ve been there, but not at this price.
Vote out the authoritarian, surveillance loving, censor happy, incompetent ALP, and never let them near power again.

My brother just leased a Model Y, which is about $65k drive away. On a 5 year lease, the trade in value is $10k.
That gives you a pretty good idea about how well the value is expected to hold - terribly.
If people only need a browser and office suite and adobe, a $200 computer will do that just as well. No need to spend USD$1000.
There is basically no use case for this machine at the price that it is.
