Yeah I figured it was just written by somebody unfamiliar with the region. I just wanted to point out that while baraboo is in a fairly rural area it isn’t isolated like some readers might imagine. These things are happening much closer to “normal society” than one might expect.

Baraboo is like 400 miles (640km) from the Canadian border by road. Wisconsin doesn’t even share a border with Canada. Even on lake Superior Wisconsin’s waterways are encapsulated by Minnesota and Michigan’s waterways.
A better geographic reference is only a stones throw from Baraboo: extremely popular Midwestern tourist destination, Wisconsin Dells.
There’s tunnels under that school. Undersea tunnels all the way to Miami.
