Re The Orville,

As I understand he’s now at least written all the episodes for the next season, now it’s just a matter of getting everything together (the equally hard part).

I thought he would stick with The Orville on a regular basis, but maybe once you achieve your dream it’s easy to start looking at other projects.

Paramount called his bluff on the Ted live action series (he would only do it if they could have movie level budget for CGI Ted, and they did, for two seasons at least). So I think he jumped at that since it seemed like a limited time offer.

Plus now he’s diving back into animation with a Stewie spin-off show and a Ted animated show.

I do hope we get Orville season 4 someday, especially with Star Trek coming to an end (for now).

Overall I’m definitely impressed with the content Apple has put out. I hesitate to say HBO has lost their magic, but I could see someone prefer Apple’s offerings over HBO’s, especially if we only look at recent and not the full backlog.

I think HBO is still putting out a lot of prestige TV (The Pitt, DTF St Louis, Hacks, Lanterns, HOTD, AKotSK, etc), but Apple is definitely putting out hit after hit after hit (Widow’s Bay, Shrinking, Slow Horses, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, etc).

Both are going to win big this weekend at the Emmys.

Depending on your source Kimmel averages about 2 million viewers on TV every night. On YouTube Kimmel’s monologue gets about 3.5 million views.

Kimmel’s interviews on YouTube vary wildly but I hope this gets big viewership.

Overall I think it looks fine. I think the spirit of the original is there.

I don’t like how shiny some parts are, especially when they’re wet. It just looks bad like a simple filter slapped on.

I’ll probably play it at some point, but I don’t need to play it day one.

I mean FWIW if the sages die as a theory then in one out of three realities the world is saved and they don’t die. In another reality they die but as a sacrifice to save to world so, while sad, ultimately leads to a better future. And of course in the failure timeline… Well ok that probably is sad all around but that’s only a third of the time at worst.

Kimmel’s opening monologue didn’t address this so I’m guessing it’s false. We’ll see if anything changes as the week goes on but probably false.

The new season premieres tonight and I’m guessing has already been filmed, which is where this leak is coming from.

I think most people would agree with you, the remakes have QoL improvements that basically make them the best version.

Sure some people will always be nostalgic for the originals, but as remakes continue what is the original?

Let’s look at Link’s Awakening. If you played it on the Game Boy, it’s a great game. But if you played it on the Game Boy Color it had the camera side quest and color dungeon, those were excellent. But if you played it on the Switch the camera side quest is now Dampe’s Dungeon Creator.

I personally liked the camera side quest, but Dampe’s Dungeon Creator was an interesting addition and I think it was cool to see.

The water on people makes them look a bit too shiny. I hope they adjust it before release. Otherwise I think they mostly look pretty good.

I believe the physical release is an actual physical release and not a game key card.

So far all first party Nintendo games have had a physical release and not a game key card, I would bet you’re correct.

There is a lot of mid season… I don’t want to say filler but just stretching. I definitely think you could cut it down to three seasons total. If you’re binging the show it’s fine, but week to week some weeks just suck.

You’re absolutely right about the stretching in the middle. Each season starts great, has a weird stretched middle, and then a solid finale.

I didn’t love the start of season 3, so this whole season felt like a slog, but the finale two episodes were excellent.

I’m glad that season 4 is the finale, because otherwise I probably wouldn’t stick with it.

Zero Mission, AM2R, Super & Fusion is basically the perfect run of games. I do agree that Super Metroid is the best and if you can only play one that’s the one to go with.

If you’re able Metroid Dread on the Switch is the perfect continuation.

Also did you play AM2R on that device? I thought it only ran on Windows.
