  • I try to buy local if I can, but like you say, it’s not always possible, and often comes with an attractive price tag.

The things that I feel matter are supporting local farms and food markets, as well as local businesses. I’d rather support my local dentist than a national chain. I’d rather buy my veg from the Saturday farmers market than from the grocery store, when able. Keeping the money local does play a part in maintaining the local economy. Most of our purchases wind up shipping money out of our community, so I try where I can to plug the leak.

I’m also a small business, so it’s important to show my support for others.

  • Skinny jeans, ultra tiny phones, basically anything that was a PITA to use or traded comfort to look fashionable.

Two things I want to see come back is JNCO style jeans that are enormous, and zipoffs. Oversized jeans - that’s comfort right there. I lived through that. There’s nothing like being able to put your 2" thick 10 lb math textbook in your back pocket like a wallet, lol. Zipoff pants / convertable pants were the bomb. You could be warm on a cold morning and have shorts in the afternoon. I really miss those, and the lack of cargo pockets today. Where have all the cargos gone???

  • I’ve used jeweler’s eye loupes for extensive periods. They’re not terrible to hold in place unless you’re sweaty. If it’s too small it can become hard, but it generally rests in your eye well and is held in with friction rather than muscles. I do have a set that clip to my glasses now, which I need as I’ve gotten older. Those are easy.

People who only need correction in one eye get glasses with a prescription in one eye, and a plano lens in the other, which is just a clear lens with no correction or adjustments.

  • Bocce

    Billiards/Pool/Cue Sports (personal fav)

    Darts

Curling ok I was wrong about this one. Seemed pretty laid back but it sounds more intense than I had thought!

I’d hazard to suggest playing cards or board games, still has the element of challenge/sport, but doesn’t require too much exertion.

Possibly E-Sports if you’re into that sort of thing. Let the game console / computer do the running.
