No worries, same here. We were there from 96-00, there’s a good chance we’ve run into each other before! There’s an even better chance that our fathers worked together in some capacity, it was a relatively tiny base and the U2 program was pretty small.

You can hold something like a fire cracker in an open palm and walk away with mild burns. However, if you were holding the same firecracker in a closed fist I would be fitting you with a prosthetic in a few weeks.

Now I’m not sure exactly how much energy a stun grenade goes off with, but usually if the limb is irreparably damaged without also causing other bodily trauma, the patient was probably holding the device when it went off.

Nah, mines a hip and lower back combo. I have a limb length discrepancy from an accident a long time ago that gives me a lateral pelvic tilt. Basically flares up if I haven’t done enough or if I have done too much activity. So sitting or laying down too long will start fucking with it.

I’ve definitely done something similar more than once. You would think at some point you’d stop having to learn more about your body, but then your body keeps on changing.

Eh, after a couple years of doing 5-6 hours, 8 hours is no longer doable. For some reason my hip and back start acting up if I sleep longer than 7 hours. Doesn’t seem to matter what sleeping position or what bed I use, after 7 hours of inactivity my muscles seem to just start to strain themselves.

We can’t really build stuff like that anymore. The people who designed it had an intuitive grasp for aeronautics. You can’t teach intuition to a computer.

I mean that’s just a silly claim, the HTV-2 drone has literally gone mach 20, which is nearly 10 times faster than the SR71. Plus the SR72 project is currently in development with aims to be nearly twice as fast as the SR71.

I mean, it’s not that old of an airframe. I’m only middle aged and I saw the last time it flew in 1991. My dad just retired from the FAA a couple years ago and when he was in the military he maintained the flight suits for the SR71 and U2 programs.

The original engineers may have passed, but the crew and engineers responsible for the huge amount of maintenance for the airframe are still around and probably have more functional knowledge about the airframe than the designers.

You really shouldn’t be microwaving food in plastic. A lot of them claim to be safe for the microwave, which is technically true. However pretty much all plastics degrades and become volatile under a certain amount of heat, and microwave ovens can become very hot in very unpredictable ways.

Most plastics will start to undergo polymer deformation around 200 degrees and start to release volatile organic compounds, which is a pretty normal temp for your average microwave over to regularly get to.

Mine typically outlast the little snap tabs on their plastic lids.

The article specifies 6000 apartments by only utilizing surface level parking owned by the city that are close to public transportation, and by sticking to current zoning laws in those areas. Hypothetically if the city wanted to rezone the area, or if the author wanted to be less realistic and utilize all city owned parking it would be significantly more than 6k apartments.

Oh, and let’s not forget you’re also taking away all the parking spaces, so everybody in NYC sells their car because they have nowhere to park it.
