Gotta shamelessly plug my Mastodon thread, but there are lots of great forks:

What’s happening with Remote Play lately is good and nice but without headless/virtual display option on the server side, it doesn’t make much sense.
On both Linux and Windows, you can’t capture full range HDR without your physical display also supports it. 99% of the gaming monitors only goes up to 400 nits, whereas the Deck offers 1000 nits and, if you use the Deck as the middleman, TVs can go up to 2000.
That being said, there are many Sunshine forks that goes around those (and many more) limitations by spawning a full fledged virtual display, and that’s the way it is.

Oh it’s Slitherine’s own store/launcher you meant. That was a nice piece of software as well, you’re right.

While we’re in this topic, YSK about Polaris as well, a Linux native headless streaming server which also boasts a handful of great other features.

Edit: Snatching the top comment didn’t felt right so: I’ve tried the newest Remote Play. It’s definitely snappier. Stats say video latency is under a frame now (at 120 fps) when set up properly. But latency’s still even lower with Vibepollo (~half a frame). So good job to Steam people, Remote Play finally making sense for everyday Steam users, but there’s still some space for improvements.

They’re trying hard to look like “good guys” ahead of their IPO.
Everybody heard their recent breakup with Pentagon but ignoring they were happily engaged with the War Machine before the breakup. They’re still serving Palantir, Blackrock, NSA and god knows who else.

While it’s a very cool project, running a gaming setup on a Docker container felt very clunky to me. Somehow I fear it would add latency (input or output), then again even if so it should be negligible.
Then can you walk us around the maintenance, like what do you do when there’s a GPU driver update, do you rebuild the image?

If you’re looking for a Windows solution, check VibePollo. It’s also offering a headless, isolated streaming solution plus a lot more.

In turn Apple went ‘oh fuck what’s an AI now’ and turned out to be the winners. Who would’ve guessed huh.

If you didn’t liked any suggestion above, remind that you can use it as Stream Deck controller or a similar remote controller like that.
Being said, iPhone 13 is still a very, very decent phone. Consider passing it to family’s elders (there’s an ‘old person’ mode on all iDevices). Also StandBy mode is great.

Windows Central should be advocating for return of Windows Phone.

I was checking just a few hours ago. Just in time, cool!

So Apple doesn’t do planned obsolescence now?

Isn’t Android Linux? That was the trench defended when I last checked a few years ago.

I was just reading Apple doing all of it’s Silicon R&D over Israel as well. Wondering what Israel is promising them to get landed with lucrative business.

There was an MS tool named COFEE for forensic of Windows machines that’s exclusive to national security agencies, which eventually leaked to What.CD like back in 2009. So I’m pretty sure this predates even Windows 8.

Fun fact: most EVs are using Wwise, a sound engine developed for video games and being used by almost a third of the games industry. Someone someday just thought “hey we can design awesome fake car sounds for racing games with this baby, why don’t we just plug it into cars instead?” then it took off.
On a second note, EV sounds totally hackable over software but no one is paying much attention yet. OTA updates also possible.
This might eat into your weekend but, if you have a stronger PC somewhere at home, you should def consider streaming games from it instead of getting capped into 30fps. Just try Steam Remote Play (recently updated, no setup) or try Sunshine (or one of the forks, Vibeshine / Vibepollo / Moonshine / Polaris) & Moonlight.
