France still has one. It’s called CB (Carte Bleue) and is working alongside Visa and Mastercard. Notoriously, some years ago Visa was down for a day and it impacted lots of countries except France because everyone fell back to the CB Network.
To be fair, Linux Mint having long development cycle is perfect for stability. I have Mint on my laptop for god knows how long, I never had to reinstall it, never seen a crash, never seen an issue. For a laptop I only use occasionally (during vacations) I couldn’t have chosen a better distro
