It would not be that hard. There just needs to be a way to federate the change.

1. Authenticate the new account. This could be as simple as an account admin code that is only available when logged in, or authenticated through the old server.

2. Scrape the old account for links and backlinks. Federate changes so that they link to the new account.

3. You might need a workaround for mentions and follows. Those would be spread across other users’ accounts, so probably not fixable.

4. Copy any content that was not already federated to the new host.

If devs wanted to, they would. They don’t want to. I guess you could ask them why.

Thanks. Samsung doesn’t allow multiple users on their phones (apparently they allow it on tablets). However, this led me to the Samsung kids mode, which turns out to be a good solution in my particular case.

I use ONN Android boxes. Fairly inexpensive, but I think it’s difficult to set up without a Google account (you can create a dummy account on the setup).

Open-source is a stretch. Open weights are more like blobs. They run and can be used openly, but it’s not as though you can build it yourself. No way to know how it was trained or if the training was manipulated by various interests.

Now, say that the sports star or a film star wants to by a secondary house for a friend, a teacher, a family member who helped along the way to expand that cycle of breaking generational poverty. Or maybe they want to purchase their childhood home. Whatever the reason may be, they are now being penalized for helping others.
