I was on the Fiio site, used to have one of theirs that was pretty much an iPod that used SD cards, none are so simple now but not bad compared to most that are pretty much an Android phone without a SIM card.
Honestly, the more I look, the more something like Tangara sounds right for me. That, or just rolling my own with a board, a DAC add-on, and some fiddling with Linux to make it work. Pretty sure I could set one up on RISC-V board I was looking at.
They could be looking for what features the other poster is looking for specifically that they might not have thought about. Take advantage of the time someone else has put into researching options. No need to do the same research again.
They also could want to know the brand doing that to avoid them.
Just chiming in to recommend the RUIZU X52 as I’ve been using it probably a year or two now and absolutely love it. It’s small and lightweight and has a clip on it like the old iPod shuffle. Interface takes a little getting used to like trying to get back to the main menu from the depths of the mp3 library menu requires a learned order of operations but other than that, it’s perfect. I purchased it from Amazon Japan so it might not be as prevalent in online stores elsewhere.
A bit off topic, but what sort of mp3 player? It crossed my mind a few times that I should get one again.
Why would you want the mp3 player they are talking about? If they cant even shell out for decent web dev, why would the hardware be any less cheap…
